BBC Is Locking Itself into Microsoft
What is happening to the BBC? I previously wrote an article about the terrible "Web 2.0" redesign idea (which was recently cited on the CNN Money blog). Now it looks like BBC is going down a terrible path to make itself Microsoft-only.
Vnunet covers the story in an article titled BBC Slammed for Microsoft Lock-in:
The Open Source Consortium (OSC) has slammed the BBC over plans to lock online TV viewers into Microsoft products.
The accusations come after the BBC announced that its new on-demand services will be limited to Microsoft Windows.
A report from the BBC Trust said that services will be unavailable to consumers who do not use Microsoft software or have an up-to-date version of Windows.

- BBC Admits Massive Underestimate of Linux Users — "The BBC has backtracked on claims that it has only hundreds of Linux users accessing its website.... Now, Highfield claims on his blog that the figure could be as high as 97,600."
- BBC told iPlayer must be multi-platform — "The BBC has been told that it must offer a version of its iPlayer for all operating systems, not just Windows."
