Call of Duty and Computer Games Web Site

For a while I have been thinking about building a computer games Web site. I don't play computer games, but I think that it would be an interesting subject for a Web site.

I started doing a little research with Call of Duty. Game demos are available at Download.com. If looking to buy the game, there are several versions including the Call of Duty Battle Pack which comes with Call of Duty 1, Call of Duty: United Offensive, and Call of Duty 2.

Call of Duty is a first-person shooter game where you play the role of various allied soldiers in WWII Europe.

Here are a few of Call of Duty screenshots (these are from the first game, though the series also includes Call of Duty 2, 3 and 4).

The game is a bit unnerving. I'm not sure if it is in good taste except that it shows how terrible it must have been to have fought in those WWII battles. In one scene the main character is fighting off diving planes with an anti-aircraft gun while under fire from the planes as well as from enemy soldiers on a nearby rooftop. In real life survival would have been very unlikely, but in the game you can start over if killed.

Another interesting feature of Call of Duty is an anti-game-cheat system if you play online. I'm sure there are ways around the system though.

I don't believe that Call of Duty 4 is out yet, but it may be in beta. Version 3 was not released for the PC as far as I know. The game apparently also can be played on Linux.

The official Web site has more information about the game and Call of Duty 4...
